Ahoy! Here's the skull trend gone mini. These fun little tops are made by Dirty Laundry. They make me wish Ethan were a little younger...
After Christmas, we popped over to the Oilily store for their year-end sale and picked up a new outfit for Skylar. (She wore it yesterday, but I forgot to snap a picture.)
She's at that lovely age where we can dress her up in funny clothes and she runs around like a little sprite. I figure I might as well enjoy it, because in a couple years she'll have her own ideas about what to wear. And it might not be mixed prints.
I've always loved Oilily because their funky, whimsical fabrics are often Asian-inspired (like my dear husband ;-). And at half off, who can resist?!
Oh, and we also picked up this jacket for next year. It's plain olive nylon with lots of embroidery, soft and toasty warm.
The title of this blog refers to the paucity of window coverings in our home. Having endured a two-year remodel, one would think that this place would be "done." We moved back into the house in June, and sadly it's December now. And still no curtains.
I've managed to fill my time with all sorts of other things. The fact that this blog exists at all is proof that I will do just about anything else.
Samira is a mom at my son's school who knits handbags out of fancy wools. She learned to knit while undergoing chemo during her battle against cancer. As part of a fundraiser, I was lucky enough to get on her list, and she made the bag shown here just for me!
Her bags come in all sorts of designs and colorways. It was really hard to choose, but I decided on this charcoal bag because I have a lot of black and charcoal in my wardrobe. (Thank goodness black is the new black again!)
Anyway, since the photo doesn't show much detail or scale, I'll also mention that the ruffle edge at the top is knitted with the body of the bag and the top closes with a giant, carved wood button. There are small, shiny beads that look like hematite every couple of inches around the ruffle. It's completely seamless and just beautifully hand-crafted. Inside is a lavender sachet that makes the bag smell as yummy as it looks.
