What's the one thing you're most neurotic about?
With so many neuroses to choose from, I consulted The Husband about this. With hardly a pause, he answered, "Ingredients." Seems I'm unusually paranoid about chemicals and food-like substances. Maybe it was all the trouble I had in college chemistry and biochem. I've even told my Oreo-loving son that he probably shouldn't eat anything he can't read.
What piece of advice do you wish you could take?
Be patient.
What's your morning beverage of choice? Coffee, tea, juice? Homemade or store-bought?
Tiger spiced chai, made with half soy milk and half water. Preferably at Coupa, with girlfriends.
Are you watching the Super Bowl today? Who are you watching it with, and which team do you want to win?
No, but we're eating chili and cornbread. :-)
How do you stay organized?
Submitted by devillibrarian.
I keep a color-coded calendar showing a dozen different categories on my Mac. The calendar, in iCal, is sync'd to my iPhone and to Google Calendar (via Spanning Sync) so that the hubby stays apprised of what's going on. Pretty geeky, no? This doesn't actually mean that I *am* organized, just that I desperately need to be more organized than I really am.
What are 10 things you've done that other people probably haven't?

- Learned English on Sesame Street (explains a lot...)
- Majored in philosophy (absolutely not a hot vocational field)
- An axel (and a double-axel with a harness - my figure-skating era)
- Dived shipwrecks, swam with sharks (the scuba period of my life)
- Skied down Squaw's KT-22 on snowblades (fun but tiring)
- Started a family while working at a start-up with husband (exhausting, painful)
- Natural childbirth (twice, quite possibly less painful than #6)
- Remodeled a house for two long years (a paradox of time and space)
- Attempted to learn the piano despite being tone deaf (was coerced, twice)
- Accidentally destroyed a La Creuset pot (we're talking enamel over cast iron - dinner guests, beware!)
Which one of your ancestors would you most like to talk to?

I would spend a day with my great-grandfather - my father's grandfather, a memory of my father's own childhood. As a young man, GGF began his trade as a poor barber in the Fujian province of China. He saved enough to buy some land, grew sugar, and bought more land a classic rags-to-riches tale. One day he was walking down a road past the Chinese equivalent of a prison chain gang. He spotted an enormous man with kind eyes and, on impulse, bought the man's freedom. The prisoner was so grateful that he became GGF's servant at the family compound. My father remembered the giant man as the person who would carry my GGF in a chair from room to room during his old age. I hardly know a thing about GGF (or my dad's unusual childhood) but the glimpse of what I've heard is so intriguing.
What do you do with the cards and letters you receive? Do you keep them all, just keep the photos, throw them away?
Inspired by jacolily.
They all go into a Christmas box. We look at the past years' cards as we unpack and put up the decorations, with the requisite sighs of time passing too quickly, kids growing up too fast, yaddah, yaddah...
What was the best movie you saw this year?
Do I have to pick just one? Naaaw...
1. Babel - Was actually released in late 2006 (and shouldn't be on this list), but I don't think we saw it until the beginning of 2007 (so here it is).
3. The Jane Austen Book Club - Sad, funny, smart, silly, heartwarming chick flick. Not a brilliant movie but so likable.
4. Ratatouille - Who would believe gourmet rats could be so amusing? Pixar (still) rocks!
5. In the Valley of Ellah - Not a feel-good movie, but thought-provoking and extra scary because it's based on a true story. Wish it did better at the box office than it did...
